Dear Cycling Friends,
2012 RIDE RESULTS: Another successful Breast Cancer Awareness Ride in the books. 419 riders braved the chilly morning to raise over $14,000 and bring awareness to a very good cause. Thanks to all that came out. This year we ceded the honor of being the largest ride in the country to Towpath Bikes in Rochester, NY. We received a nice note from Towpath after the event letting us know the following: ”You should know that all of you at Syracuse Bicycle were a driving force for our growth this year. We saw the impressive numbers that you put up last year and were working very hard this year just to keep up with you.” And, wow did they work hard! They had a total of 519 riders and raised over $52,000 for breast cancer awareness at their event.
We are honored that Towpath Bikes and many other Trek dealers have stepped up their efforts this year for this cause that has touched both of us personally. We are lucky to have the support of our customers, the local community, our vendors, and our sponsors. We share with them our goal of coming back next year bigger and better…all with an eye toward helping find a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.
CLUB CHALLENGE WINNER: We decided that there wasn’t a clear “club” winner this year. CNY Triathlon edged out Onondaga Cycling Club with 59 tri club members participating compared to 52 OCCers. But when you consider that CNY Triathlon numbers 1200 members, OCC with their 500 members had a much higher percentage of club members riding than CNY Tri. So we’re calling it a draw and inviting both clubs to a special “Club” night coming soon.
WINNER OF THE BIKE RAFFLE: Colleen Haggerty was the lucky winner of a Trek FX 7.1 fitness bike!
Happy Riding,
Paul and Trish
