Bicycle Maintenance Intensive Class Starts January 21st, 2016
The class will cover the anatomy of the bicycle and bicycle tool use, going well beyond the basics of flat repair and lubrication, delving into brake and derailleur adjustments and the many details that escape notice until expensive parts need to be replaced. With this basic skill set, you’ll be ready to diagnose and repair common problems, becoming a more c…onfident and empowered cyclist.
Areas of bicycle maintenance that will be covered include:
Week 1 – Introduction to the course, flat repair and drivetrain basics.
Week 2 – Drivetrain, gears, shifters, etc. Introduction to brakes.
Week 3 – Brakes continued, wheel truing.
Week 4 – Hubs, headsets, bottom brackets and cranksets.
The class is a total of 8 hours, split into four 2-hour sessions. Sessions will take place on Thursdays, January 21st, 28th, and February 4th, and 11th from 6-8pm. You will be provided Park Tool’s “Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair” – a $24.99 value – and be expected to bring your own bicycle. Tools will be provided. Cost of the class will be $150, which includes 8 hours of instruction, the book; and a 15% off coupon for purchasing tools, parts and accessories.
