 Syracuse Bicycle Women’s Programs

Beginner Women on Wheels – affectionately known as “WOW” – is an instructional, “no drop” road cycling program that meets every Monday evening May 13th-June 10th at 5:45 pm. “No drop” means there will always be ride leaders making sure no rider is left behind. The first 20 minutes of each meet is dedicated to teaching you more about how to be a more confident cyclist, including flat repair, how to shift, pedaling efficiently, even what to wear when riding. The remaining time will be occupied by riding an easy 8-12 miles. Beginner WOW riders need to have a bicycle in good working order and must be able to ride in a straight line.

WOW is typically composed of a mix of new faces and women that have taken part in the program in years past, because WOW is fun!

Registration is now CLOSED for the 2019 season.

Beginner Women in the Wild introduces you to riding off-road on our local trails. We’ll teach you the basics of riding off-road, including proper position on the bike, climbing & descending, going over obstacles (logs, rock gardens) and cornering on tight, twisty single track. The groups meets on Wednesdays in the month of June (6/5, 6/12, 6/19, 6/26) at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville with a bonus day on Wednesday 7/3 at Bear Swamp State Forest in Sempronius, NY with the goal of lining up Tim O’Shea’s MTB 6-Pack Race Series at Empire Brewery in July.

No experience necessary, but riders must have a mountain bike with at least 2″ wide tires and a front suspension fork.

Registration is now OPEN for the 2019 season.
