2018 Syracuse Bicycle Women on Wheels

2018 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

BEGINNER WOW – INSTRUCTION PROGRAM FOR BEGINNER RIDERS – COST: $95

Whether you are entirely new to cycling, interested in triathlons, looking to get into shape, or just want to make some great friends, the Syracuse Bicycle Women on Wheels Cycling Program is here to help you out. By riding with other women and learning the basics of cycling, we build up your confidence with every ride. Our aim is to get you to love riding your bike just as much as we do by creating a safe, friendly and fun environment.

Beginner Women on Wheels – affectionately known as “WOW” – is an instructional, “no drop” road cycling program. The first 15-20 minutes of each class is dedicated to teaching you more about how to be a more confident cyclist, including flat repair, how to shift, pedaling efficiently, even what to wear when riding. No drop means there will always be a ride leader bringing up the rear to make sure no rider is left behind. We ride alongside you as well, teaching you how to get the most enjoyment out of your time in the saddle. Beginner WOW riders only need to have a bicycle in good working order and must be able to ride in a straight line. Cost per session: $95, includes Syracuse Bicycle Jersey.

Session 1: Thursdays, 6:15pm – 7:30pm. May 17, 24, 31 at Green Lakes State Park; June 7, 14, 21 at Oneida Shores Park.

Session 2: Thursdays, 6:00pm – 7:30pm. July 12, 19, 26 & August 2, 9, 16 at Onondaga Lake Park (Corner of Longbranch Rd and Ten Eyck Rd.)

No experience necessary, but riders must have a mountain bike with at least 2″ wide tires and a front suspension fork. Demo bikes available on a limited basis. Cost per session: $95. includes Syracuse Bicycle Jersey.
