How It Works

Be prepared to ride in lap format on the picturesque, rolling terrain of Empire Farm Brewery. Course design is weather dependent and will be marked with stakes. A course map will be available on race day only. Riders will begin the race with a mass start.

Between each lap, all participants stop to play Hammerschlagen – our version of the German Drinking game where you pound a 3.5 inch nail with a hammer into a burly piece of wood.

After a racer passes the finish line, they must take their number plate off their bike, run over and place it into the bucket inside of the ring of tires. The first person to put their Number Plate in the fat tire bucket after completing all laps will be named their category winner. Prizes awarded to Top 3 in each category.

If another racer crosses the finish line after you, but gets their number plate in the bucket BEFORE you, they will be placed ahead of you in the final standings. Racers that lose their Number Plate during the race will have to make a new one at the registration tent. No exceptions.

We have five categories: Juniors <18; Men 18+ Elite & Citizen; Women 18+ Elite & Citizen. All riders self select themselves into Elite/Citizen categories, following these simple guidelines:

  • Elite=You’re Fast! (or you think you are…or everyone tells you that you are…)
  • Citizen=You’re just here to have fun! (Or you used to be fast…and now you’re not

Top 3 in each category will win awards. Door prizes from our sponsors. Commemorative Pint glass to all finishers.
